Every other day, Kali D'Angelo is a normal sixteen-year-old girl. She goes to public high school. She attends pep rallies. She's human.

And then every day in between . . .She's something else entirely.

Though she still looks like herself, every twenty-four hours predatory instincts take over and Kali becomes a feared demon-hunter with the undeniable urge to hunt, trap, and kill zombies, hellhounds, and other supernatural creatures. Kali has no idea why she is the way she is, but she gives in to instinct anyway. Even though the government considers it environmental terrorism.

When Kali notices a mark on the lower back of a popular girl at school, she knows instantly that the girl is marked for death by one of these creatures. Kali has twenty-four hours to save her and, unfortunately, she'll have to do it as a human. With the help of a few new friends, Kali takes a risk that her human body might not survive. . .and learns the secrets of her mysterious condition in the process.
I'm a BIG Jennifer Lynn Barnes fan, so when I saw Every Other Day over at NetGalley I had to grab it, and oh boy, this book was FINGER-LICKING GOOD!

I love the cover, love the characters, love the story. There isn't much that I didn't love about this book. The synopsis is good, but I don't think it manages to capture the true essence of awesomeness that is Every Other Day. (but I'm just being picky, I did like it!)

Kali is the kind of violent, witty, kick-ass heroine that every girl loves and secretly wants to be, she may think of herself as a freak, but I think that she's awesome.

Jennifer use's her amazing writing prowess to take us and Kali on one hell of a journey, of: self discovery, friendship, teenage life, family issues and lots of intriguing mysteries to solve thrown into the mix.

Every Other Day is filled with everything I love in a good book, some of these are: psychics, zombies, hellhounds, neglectful parents, a yummy guy, strange voices and every other imaginable creature that goes bump in the night plus more than you can even imagine! All of them are waiting for you in Every Other Day, where Kali likes to hunt, not only at night; with her trustworthy knife, wicked skills and her deadly attitude.

I really hope that there will be a second book, I would kill, maim and torture for a sequel... (hmm, might be channeling Kali a bit too much there) but so far its just a standalone and all I have to say is... NOOOOO, I WANT MORE!! So lets hope that I'm not the only one who loves it, so a sequel will be created!

I really want to know more about Kali and her heritage, the delicious Zev and all the other characters, creatures and bad guys that Jennifer Lynn Barnes created in this fantastic urban fantasy world.

Although a word of warning to all the wuss's like me out there and prepare some tissues! I cried buckets... and really Jennifer, did you have to do that... really!?

I must admit the ending was good and made me feel warm and fuzzy inside and left a smile on my face even though I had been crying. It felt a lot like a good ending to a first book in a series, so I was so shocked when I heard that it was a standalone. And although its concluded... to a certain point, there is still plenty to explore...  and hopefully Jennifer will want to explore Kali's tale with us some more!
