My thoughts on The Hunger Games movie!
First thing I'll say is this will have SPOILERS mentioned, so if you haven't seen the movie yet and you don't want it to be ruined, then don't continue reading this!! go and press the red X to get you out of here pronto!
Okay, now with that said I want to say, despite my opinions on a few little things I LOVED the movie, it was amazing! The actors fantastic and the director and all the staff did an awesome job!
I was so excited to be Australian and view The Hunger Games before a lot of the world on Wednesday March 21st, and was going crazy and annoying everyone about 'The Hunger Games this and The Hunger Games that' especially my mum haha sorry mum!
So it's been a while, I've seen the movie twice, let everything sink in and most of the world has seen it now.
I only had three scenes from the book that I would have loved to have seen in it and I'm dying to talk about it, and well sick of repeating the same things, so here it is!
#1. At the reaping where Haymitch is drunk off his face and tries to grope Effie, then when Katniss is drawing too much attention and is about to cry he stumbles off the stage.
Although I understand why they took this scene out and that it isn't a pivotal one like the other two I will mention. I just think that it would have been hilarious and it sets up Haymitch's character: although he's a drunken bastard he still cares (I also thought Haymitch was a bit too nice in the movie, but he was done so well I didn't really mind).
#2. THE BREAD!
Okay I was a bit pissed off with this one, how could they have cut the bread scene out! I mean yeah, it's just bread and they did the district 11 riot in this movie instead, I just think that Katniss thanking district 11 for the bread was just such an amazing and pivotal scene that I couldn't believe that they cut it out...
I would give up the first two to have just had my #3 in the movie.
#3. Katniss breaking Peeta's heart at the end...
It was important okay! I think that the ending wasn't as strong without it as it explains Haymitch's notes and that although Katniss does have feelings for Peeta she is conflicted by so much (the games, Gale, her family etc) and it gives you the 'oh god what is going to happen next' I just think that if they start the Catching Fire movie like in the book a lot of people will be confused - people who haven't read the books anyway... but well I'm very intrigued to see how they do it.
There is a few other little things but I thought those could be explained in Catching Fire pretty well without having to be in the first movie.
Although I will say when I watched the movie the second time those three didn't bother me that much and I enjoyed it a lot more. I also think that the first time I watched it, compared to the book it seemed to be going at a crazy fast pace, but once again that's understandable.
I love how they kept going to the control room, it was nice seeing it from that perspective of how the games were controlled.
The games were done marvelously, but the first time I watched it, I felt as if they didn't put as much effort in the start and end of the movie. Also the prim scene at the start was probably ruined for me because I watched the trailer so much, but once again I appreciated and enjoyed all these things much more the second time around!
All up I loved it and can't wait to see what they do with Catching Fire! Expecting a heap more action and can't wait to be introduced to more of my favourite characters!
To all book lovers who weren't pleased (doubt there are many) I highly suggest watching it a second time around!
So what did you think of The Hunger Games!? I can't wait till it's out on DVD!

Review: Eve by Anna Carey
Title: Eve
Author: Anna Carey
Series: Eve
Pages:318
Format: Hardcover
Publisher: Harper
Published: October 4th 2011
Goodreads | Amazon | Book Depository
Eve is another book that sat on my bookshelf for quite some time, I had pre-ordered it and when it finally arrived at my doorstep - I wasn't in a dystopian mood, and in all honesty I probably read it sooner than all my others simply because it was nice and short and I didn't want to read something massive.
Where do you go when nowhere is safe?
Sixteen years after a deadly virus wiped out most of Earth's population, the world is a perilous place. Eighteen-year-old Eve has never been beyond the heavily guarded perimeter of her school, where she and two hundred other orphaned girls have been promised a future as the teachers and artists of the New America. But the night before graduation, Eve learns the shocking truth about her school's real purpose--and the horrifying fate that awaits her.
Fleeing the only home she's ever known, Eve sets off on a long, treacherous journey, searching for a place she can survive. Along the way she encounters Arden, her former rival from school, and Caleb, a rough, rebellious boy living in the wild. Separated from men her whole life, Eve has been taught to fear them, but Caleb slowly wins her trust . . . and her heart. He promises to protect her, but when soldiers begin hunting them, Eve must choose between true love and her life.
reading some mixed reviews on it, I wasn't too sure about how I would feel about eve, but naturally I like dystopians because they tend to have action, intrigue and mysterious plots where things can go right one minute and completely wrong the next!
So yes, I did enjoy eve, it wasn't the best book in the whole wide world but I found it amusing, fun and it had an intriguing enough plot that kept me wanting more and then end made me very interested to read the sequel.
Eve, our main character has grown up in a secluded world where she is pretty much queen bee, she is the valedictorian of an all girls school, where they are taught that men are the enemy and if you ever meet one they will only rape and kill you, yes that's right I said rape and kill. I found that at the start of the book she's pretty much the girl you want to bitch slap in the face.
When Eve finds out that everything she was taught was a lie and she is pretty much doomed to have babies constantly for the rest of her life, she ditches her beloved friends (yeah, yeah she said she would come back, but still!), and runs off into the big bad world of scary men.
Yes, I'm being evil, but I actually did like this book, normally Eve's naivety would annoy the shit out of me, but I just found it hilarious, the way she acted, the things she said when it came to males and the world. Her superiority to everything just made me laugh my ass off (I guess I was just in a humorous mood when I read it).
I think Eve actually did well for someone who was pretty much thrown into the deep end, she reacted how anyone in her situation would, and her growth was very well done, I loved all the characters especially Arden.. in all honesty I probably would have loved it if she was the main character, but well, I think Eve did a good job nonetheless. It definitely wouldn't have been so amusing with Arden as the main character.
But I will say that in the boy camp everyone fell in love with Eve - it didn't surprise me, but Arden was there too! Shouldn't she have had at least one creepy guy make a pass on her? (would have loved to have seen her punch him in the face) I mean I was actually expecting it, two girls with a bunch of guys, one would have at least tried it - with both of them... in real life.
All up, Eve was a fun read and I'm looking forward to what will happen in Once when it hits the shelves in July! I'm hoping for more depth now that Eve has finally got a clue! & I really would like to find out more about the King's evil plot and well Caleb, more on him too!

Unexplained Absences... Explained!
Hi everyone!
You may have noticed that I haven't really been around lately, mostly due to one thing after another... first I had a bad case of the flu, then it was migraine trouble, and the latest thing is: I've somehow managed to hurt my back and I'm pretty much stuck with bed rest for the time being... until I get a more suitable and comfortable office chair. So I'll be away from the blogging world for a while! :(
I've also just started up uni again and it's really hard to keep on top of that as well... so I'm afraid that until my back get's better I wont be around a lot, I still will have posts every now and then, because I'm still reading! It just takes longer for me to write a review than I'd like because I can't sit down in my chair for too long.
I also haven't been reading too much because it's hard to lift up books haha, so pretty much sticking with the kindle for now, but really not even that, just watching a lot of anime, tv and movies and doing uni work I'm afraid! But I'll hopefully be back soon! Should be a couple more weeks, but I thought I would just let everyone know that I'm not going to be quitting blogging anytime soon!
Keep reading lots of awesome books everyone!
& now it's back to bed for me. :(
